A car free island
Île-d'Aix is a little island with an area of 1,29 km² between
Île de Ré, Île d'Oléron and Fort Boyard.
This small piece of land (600m large and 2500m long) has a wide variety of landscapes.
Large beaches with fine sand, cliffs, Mediterranean-like coves,
a pine forest, and tamarisk marshes throughout its 7 km of coastline.
Acces to Aix island acces is limited to boat or ferry.
You can enjoy its calm and timeless pace by strolling in the streets of the village, or by biking along the sea, through its many landscapes, its drawbridge and Vauban fortifications.
Over the year île-d'Aix offers a mild climate and an exceptional amount of sunshine. The ocean westerly hot wind heated by the Gulf Stream continually pushes the clouds and bringing a pure sea air.
